The irregular intersection of NE 15th Avenue and NE 2nd street currently is
subject to drainage problems -- water collects at the southeastern corner of the intersection
(toward Pine Crest). This runoff and traffic "cutting the corner short" leads to
chronic damage to the sidewalk.
There are
three new townhomes planned for the northeast corner
of this intersection. There will be three new sewer hookups as construction proceeds.
This will entail excavation of this corner. Now would be a good time to address the
drainage situation in coordination with work on the townhomes.
In addition, Pine Crest is exploring the possibility of paving some areas
of swale to provide additional street side parking.
NE 15th Ave is a county road and is subject to increasing volumes of
traffic. The intersection at 2nd St is "blind". Traffic calming
measures, such as curbing, would help to slow traffic entering Victoria Park.
This is an opportunity to address multiple problems with a
comprehensive solution.
