VICTORIA PARK CIVIC ASSOCIATION

A cloudless sky, a cool breeze, the sounds of Billy Bones, scintillating aromas, kayaks rowing by, pottery, water colors, hand crafted jewelry and so much more will be appearing. It’s the 5th annual Art & Jazz in Victoria Park.

Come join us Sunday March 21st from Noon to 4PM at the gazebo at Broward Boulevard and Victoria Park Road. This year the musical stylings of Bills Bones will be brought center stage. With cutting edge technology, 12,000 watts of power and a cultivated musical sound, Bones will captivate the audience. Plus saxophonist Didier Labossiere.

The art will be stunning, varied, and inspirational this year… painters, potters, jewelers, photographers, a wood carver, and a fused glass artist.

This year the children will also take center stage. Six year old Ewa Williams, who has attended 4 years of Art and Jazz with her grand mother and was motivated by seeing it all will be a selling artist herself this year. Click Here for Poster image. She spends lots of time with Grandma Joette in Joette's studio. She enrolled in an art class when she was in Kindergarten. She paints a variety of subjects and studies art books for inspiration.

In addition to the traditional Children’s Painting Booth and temporary tattoos, the children from Virginia Schuman Young Elementary School and St. Anthony’s School will be painting to win prizes. See displays of their works and find out who wins the blue ribbons for their schools.

On sale this year will be a new Victoria Park poster which highlights the great architectural gates in the neighborhood. This one of a kind artistic creation was created by neighbor Art Levy and underwritten by EDSA.

Every year at Art & Jazz we also pause for a serious moment. We present for you information about a subject that’s important to know about. In year’s past we’ve covered re-greening following a hurricane, property taxes, health and wellness and this year it will be no different. Learn about sustainability, green technology and home energy efficiency from the experts who will include Ft. Lauderdale’s Green Team, Florida Power and Light, HomeTeam Inspection Service, Sunshine Solar and more.

There will, of course, be the usual great food.. Hot dogs and the celebrated veggie chili by Debbie Gronsbell, a fan favorite every year, will be enjoyed by all, as will those great Stork’s Bakery cookies with a glass of cold milk or a piping hot cup of coffee from Gold Coast Coffee Service.

New and exciting this year… Bring the kids and take them on a Kayak ride down Lake Stranahan. Kayaks provided by Atlantic Coast Kayak Company will offer 15 minute rides in two-seater kayaks. It’s just $5.

Along with the artists, the music and the demonstrations, there will be a chance for you to go home with a purchase from the silent auction. There will be more to come, but as of press time, the following items will be available:
