Pet of the Month
Pet of the Month: Is there room in
your home for Lyon?
At Abandoned Pet Rescue, Broward County's largest
no-kill animal shelter, we believe every animal should
have the opportunity to enjoy a long, happy life.
We'd like to introduce you to one of our very special
dogs, 18-month old Lyon.
Lyon had a rough start in life: before coming to us, he
spent his entire life in a tiny cage in a garage. Lyon
could not fully stand up in his cage, and had very
little human contact. We were worried that Lyon would
not be able to adjust to living with people, but he
has proved to all of us how resilient a dog can be. He
went on his first public walk in December at the
Victoria Park Civic Association's Cause 4 Paws 3K Walk
and Fun Dog Show. Although he was a bit wobbly on the
leash at first, he loved meeting people and other dogs.
Here is what some of our volunteers had to say about
Lyon:
"What a great boy he was, very affectionate! I wish I
could have taken him!" - John
"I walked Lyon this morning. All I can say is he is a
loverboy. He also walked beautifully on a leash, an
amazing, beautiful, and gentle soul." - Melissa
Lyon is a gorgeous dog with a soft red coat who would
make a great addition to a home with other dogs. Our
shelter is open every day of the week from noon to 5
p.m. Stop by to meet Lyon and the rest of our other
pets!
